What Stockful tracks that Shopify doesn't

Daily inventory snapshots at every location

Stockful captures a snapshot of every variant at every location, every day. See exactly how stock levels changed over time - not just the adjustments, but the actual quantities on hand.

Turn history into actionable reports

Your inventory history powers 100+ reports: sell-through analysis, dead stock detection, reorder recommendations, and more. Schedule them for automatic delivery to email, Slack, a webhook, Google Sheets or Airtable.

Alerts based on real trends, not just thresholds

Stockful combines historical data with real-time webhooks. Get Slack alerts when stock drops below your thresholds - scoped by product, collection, or location, with quiet hours built in.

Inventory health scores powered by history

Stockful uses your historical data to calculate a composite health score per shop and per location - combining out-of-stock rates, dead stock percentage, and sell-through to give you one number that tells the full story.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does Stockful track inventory history?
Stockful captures a daily snapshot of every tracked variant at every location. It also listens to real-time Shopify webhooks for inventory adjustments. Together, this gives you a complete picture of stock levels over time - not just what changed, but the actual quantities on hand each day.
How far back does Stockful track inventory?
Stockful keeps 2 years of daily snapshots on every plan. After 2 years, daily data automatically rolls up into weekly and monthly summaries that are kept indefinitely. Shopify natively only keeps 180 days of adjustment history with no daily stock-level tracking.
What data does Stockful capture in each snapshot?
Each daily snapshot records the quantity on hand for every tracked variant at every tracked location. From these snapshots, Stockful calculates sell-through rates, inventory velocity, days of supply, and out-of-stock history automatically.
Does Stockful modify my Shopify inventory?
Nothing changes on its own. Stockful reads your store through the official Shopify API and webhooks, and writes stock back only when you perform an action in Stockful: receiving a purchase order, performing a stock adjustment or count, or creating a transfer. That way you run purchasing and counts in Stockful and your Shopify stock levels stay correct without double entry. Your products, orders and customers are never modified.
Can I track inventory at specific locations only?
Yes. During setup, you choose which locations to track. Stockful captures data independently for each selected location, so you can track just your warehouse, just your retail stores, or everything.
What's the difference between Stockful and Shopify's inventory history?
Shopify tracks inventory adjustments (the changes) for 180 days. Stockful tracks actual stock levels (the quantities on hand) daily, giving you a complete picture of your inventory over time. This enables trend analysis, velocity tracking, sell-through rates, and forecasting that Shopify can't provide.
Can I export my inventory history?
Yes. Any report can be exported as CSV, Excel, XML or JSONL, and PDF export covers the visualisations. You can also put a report on a schedule and have it delivered automatically to email, Slack, a webhook, Google Sheets or Airtable, or view it live in the app.
